On the Trail of Igor Rizzi Available on DVD as of November 6th!
Atopia is pleased to announce that Montreal filmmaker Noël Mitrani’s first feature-length film, On the Trail of Igor Rizzi, will hit Canadian DVD shelves on November 6th!
After an exceptional run at the festivals (Critics Week – Venice, Toronto International Film Festival, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, Thessaloniki), On The Trail of Igor Rizzi received the award for Best First Canadian Feature and inclusion in Canada’s Top Ten list organized by the Toronto International Film Festival. Screened in many theatres across Quebec as well as in Toronto and Vancouver, the movie has been praised by critics and audiences alike.
A grief-stricken and destitute French ex-soccer player has moved to Montreal, the home town of his lost love, in an effort to recapture her presence. He is haunted by the regret of never having told her how much he loved her. To earn money he accepts to kill a certain Igor Rizzi…
A graduate of History and Philosophy at the Sorbonne, and for some time a press illustrator, Noël Mitrani launched into cinema via writing. He directed his first short film After Shave in 1999, a moving comedy set in a suburban supermarket. Three other short films followed, the last of which Les Siens addresses the confusion possible between dream and reality.

On the Trail of Igor Rizzi at the Calgary International Film Festival!
Atopia is pleased to announce the participation of On the Trail of Igor Rizzi, Noël Mitrani’s first feature-length film, at the 2007 Calgary Film Festival.
After an exceptional run at the festivals (Critics Week — Venice, Toronto International Film Festival, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, Thessaloniki) and after receiving the award for Best First Canadian Feature and inclusion in Canada’s Top Ten list organized by the Toronto International Film Festival, On the Trail of Igor Rizzi will be screened at 10.15pm on Saturday, September 22 at The Uptown's Upstairs Theatre in Calgary.

Co-produced by StanKaz Films and Atopia Production, shot in Montreal in February 2006 with a script written by Mitrani himself, the film is distributed by Atopia Distribution in Canada and represented by Atopia Export in the rest of the world.

On The Trail of Igor Rizzi continues its successful tour in Vancouver and Winnipeg!
Noël Mitrani’s first feature will be presented in Vancouver starting April 13th and in Winnipeg starting April 27th.

On the Trail of Igor Rizzi by Noël Mitrani wins the award for Best Canadian First Feature Film!
Atopia is very pleased to announce that On the Trail of Igor Rizzi directed by Noël Mitrani has won the Award for Best Canadian First Feature Film during the closing ceremony of the 31st International Film Festival of Toronto, Saturday the 16th of September 2006. Established by sponsor CityTV, the award carries a cash prize of $15,000 for the director.
Shot in Montreal in February 2006, the film was warmly received during its World Premiere at the prestigious Critics’ Week of the 63th Venice International Film Festival.
On The Trail of Igor Rizzi will be presented during the coming weeks at the 2006 International Film Festival of Namur and at the 35th Festival of New Cinema in Montreal.
